茎：草莓有新茎、根状茎、匍匐茎。前两种属地下茎，后者为沿地面延伸的一种特殊地上茎。当年萌发或一年生的短缩茎为新茎，呈半平卧状态，节间密集而短缩，其上密集轮生着叶片。新茎顶芽和腋芽都可分化成花芽。腋芽当年可萌发为匍匐茎、或成为新茎分枝。新茎下部着生不定根，第二年新茎成为根状茎。 根状茎是营养贮藏比，其上也发生不定根。2年生以上的根状茎逐渐衰老死亡，其上不定根也随着死亡，根状茎越老，地上部分生长越差。
匍匐茎由新茎腋芽萌发形成，匍匐茎有2节，第2节生长点能分化叶片、发生不定根、形成一代子株，子株可抽生二代匍匐茎、产生二代子株，二代子株可产生三代子株，依次类推，可形成多代匍匐茎和多代子株。
